Hidden Gem - Steamboat Lake

Steamboat Lake is not a very well-known lake to many people in Colorado. About thirty minutes from Steamboat, this large lake has beautiful camping spots along its rugged shoreline. It is one of our favorite, lesser-known vacation spots to spend a few days at.

The lake is very large, and the water is clear due to the slow-moving current that feeds into it. It is pretty deep as well, often around thirty feet deep near the center of the lake. The lake is perfect for paddleboarding and even has a small marina to rent boats.

The sites at the campground are spread out and give you lots of space, some of them are backed up against the water or the trees. This makes it a great place to view moose and deer which often roam the area.

The campground is often quiet, even during peak season, and has several sites with firepits and picnic tables.

Nearby is a cute little alpine lake that is perfect for picnicking and kayaking called Pearl Lake.

Hahns Peak is a small town next to the park with a charming museum, historic schoolhouse, and cabin that are fun to visit with kids.

Overall, this campground is definitely one of the best in Colorado to take your family camping at.
