Camping in Luna Rover in Moab Utah

What could be better than waking up in southern Utah? The answer: very little.

We took our family of four camping in our Mercedes Sprinter Winnebago Revel 4x4 in February to Moab Utah. We found a first come first serve site called Goose Island Campground along the Colorado River just outside of the town of Moab. The campground is one of several along the river that is BLM managed. The campground was $20 a night. It filled in at night with tent campers and other truck and van campers but for the most part, was quiet. It was also 10 minutes from Arches National Park. Arches National Park is an amazing place to visit because it has incredible natural sculptures that you can walk right up to and touch. It is easy to see why it's a World Heritage Site. The hikes to Delicate Arch and the Landscape arch were the best and most well known. Arches is also home to the world's largest arch, which you can see from the parking lot even if hiking it isn't on your agenda.

We also took the boys to Moab Giants, a quasi museum park with giant dinosaurs. The boys loved it and we spent maybe 5 hours there. What was great about visiting all these sites was having lunch in our Van. We were well stocked with food and snacks. This was a huge benefit when we were at Moab Giants because their little cafe was overrun.

We finally went offroad 4x4 on a fun trail called the Onion Creek trail. It was a soft graded road with a lot of stream crossings. Overall it was a fun adventure that we would recommend to anyone looking to take Luna Rover further afield.
